Born and raised in Turtle Creek, Pennsylvania, Tracie Potochnik likes the sound of the title "librettist," and chooses to refer to herself as such in as many contexts as possible. She received a B.A. in English from Vassar College with a correlate in Women's Studies, and is still trying to figure out how to parlay these credentials into feminist-approved fame and fortune. She hopes that the brilliantly absurd political and social satire Monica! The Musical will provide an adequate vehicle.

Tracie has apparently sold her soul to the non-profit sector, spending 40 hours per week for the past five years writing, researching and Web designing for education reform organizations in Providence, Rhode Island. She is also a staff writer for the website Television Without Pity, which gave her the distinction of being the only person in the world who watched The Road to Stardom with Missy Elliot. Sure, she was paid, but she loved every minute.

Tracie aspires to be a famous folk singer and consequently spends many hours strumming her guitar, writing songs about heartbreak, scouting open mic nights in southern New England, and coming up with an adequate stage name. She thinks a lot about writing other stuff, and has even gone so far as to jot down a few ideas before her inborn love of leisure got the better of her.
Tracie is widely believed to have a) been a flaming gay man in all of her past lives; b) sprung Athena-like from the forehead of her secret biological mother, Cher. Also, she is not Polish.
